Capstone Copper confirmed the Copper Mark distinction has been awarded to its Mantoverde and Mantos Blancos operations in Chile.
The Copper Mark framework, which includes an independent assessment across 32 environmental, social and governance requirements, provides transparency and accountability, according to the company’s SVP of ESG and general counsel Wendy King.
“[It] reinforces the values we place on responsible, sustainable production. We take pride in the achievements of our Chilean operations and are actively striving to replicate this success at Pinto Valley and Cozamin,” she said.
Capstone CEO John MacKenzie added that responsible operating practices are a vital component of its commitment to the environment, our employees, local communities and governments.
“[It] must remain front of mind in everything we do. We recognize our role to be a responsible producer of copper given its critical role in supporting decarbonization and electrification efforts, globally.”
